Screening of Dos Fridas
(Mexico / Costa Rica, 2018, 114'), Dir. Ishtar Yasin Gutierrez
Judith cared for Frida for the last years of her life. In her memories, Frida was cared for by Judith at her Casa Azul in Mexico. As a mirror, Judith was looked after by a woman in Costa Rica. In Judith's inner world, dreams, myths, imagination and reality are intertwined. From the outset, this fiction introduces generous time with the spectator's gaze. He delivers images elaborated in detail from a pictorial perspective, on several occasions reconstructing Frida's own works. For this event, director Ishtar Yasin (who also plays Frida) presents an extended edition that includes an epilogue exploring the mythical pre-Hispanic underworld, in a paradisiacal platonic banquet that combines important personalities in history such as Marx, Freud, Artaud, Breton, Diego Rivera, Tina Modotti, Nefertiti, Yuri Gagarin, and several others.
