Desde su fundación en 1982, la Bienal Tamayo se ha consolidado como un proyecto de amplia tradición donde convergen visiones múltiples, críticas y reflexivas en torno a la pintura. En su edición XVII da continuidad a la voluntad de su impulsor, Rufino Tamayo, y propone analizar las diferentes propuestas del ejercicio pictórico del presente. La exposición reúne las 53 piezas seleccionadas, entre las que se encuentran los premios de adquisición otorgados a Edgar Cano, Óscar Rafael Soto y Francisco Valverde Prado, así como las dos menciones honoríficas a César Córdova y Young Sun Kim.
